There is one question that I am always asked: How long do you think the market for alpaca breeding stock will last?

After many years in the show ring both as an exhibitor and more recently as a judge, I have some observations on what it takes to win.

Everyone I know in the alpaca industry spends time thinking about how to market their alpacas.

Pure blood animal breeders around the world crave the ability to produce the best of their breed.

People visiting our ranch often ask me if I have a real job -- or what I did before I retired.

Caffe, a nice dense girl, is an easy birther and an excellent mom with loads of milk. She has had a cria every year since her first. Caffe was bred to Patagonia's Quijote, 4-time winner of AOBA 2002, and gave birth to Isabelle, who won 1st place and Reserve Champion at the 2007 California Classic. Caffe was then rebred to Shakespeare, which yielded a spectacular offspring—Sir William.  Sir William will be starting his show career this fall. We are very happy with Sir William, who shows great density, crimp and overall composition.
We rebred her to Shakespeare to recreate this masterpiece. She is due in November 07.
